U.S. Dept. of Labor Observes ‘Transgender Day of Remembrance’

(CNSNews.com) – The U.S. Department of Labor is officially observing Nov. 20 as “The Transgender Day of Remembrance."
"The Transgender Day of Remembrance [TDOR] will be commemorated in cities and countries around the world today, reflecting on those who have died as a result of fear, hate and transphobia,” Labor Secretary Hilda Solis said in a statement on Tuesday.
"Transphobia"?
"I stand proudly today–and every day–as an ally to the transgender community and to every person and family impacted by anti-transgender bullying and violence,” she said. “Transgender people are part of the diversity that America celebrates today and they, like every American, deserve to live without fear of prejudice or violence.”
And they vote.
“I hope that this year’s commemoration will serve as an opportunity to shine a brighter light on both progress made and the challenges ahead," Solis said.
The Department issued a similar statement last year, in which Solis said she’s “proud to stand and be counted as an ally to the transgender community.”

Cellphone calls are prohibited in the air. But fliers increasingly are carrying smartphones and tablet computers on flights. And airlines increasingly are equipping their planes with broadband access. The combination allows passengers to log on and talk to people over Internet calling services such as Skype.
And it's set the stage for an argument over whether any calls should be allowed, as the Federal Aviation Administration studies whether to expand passengers' use of electronic gadgets in the air. (Read more: Mobile-Device Use During the Whole Flight?)

Submitted by snake-plisskin on Sun, 11/18/2012 - 19:50.Egypt’s Prime Minister Hisham Kandil cried on Friday and kissed the dead child’s forehead, calling him a “martyr.” CNN called him “another victim of an [Israeli] airstrike.” Newspapers showed his photo as an example of the Palestinian civilians killed by Israel’s ongoing military campaign against militants in Gaza.
The only problem with that narrative is that 4-year-old Mahmoud Sadallah was killed by a Hamas rocket that fell short in Gaza instead of its intended target: Israel. According to an Israeli military statement Sunday, “Ninety-nine rockets fired from Gaza have crashed back into Gaza in the last four days. Hamas fires from civilian areas…and hits its own people.”

Democrats haven’t changed anyone’s mind. They changed the people.
More white people voted for Mitt Romney this year than voted for Ronald Reagan in 1980. Barack Obama lost white voters by 20 points — the widest margin since 1984.
But in 1980, whites were 88 percent of the electorate. In 2012, they were 72 percent of the electorate. Not only that, but the non-white electorate is far more Democratic than it was in 1980.
If the same country that voted in 1980 had voted in 2012, Romney would have won a bigger landslide than Reagan did.
Most Americans don’t realize that, decades ago, the Democrats instituted a long-term plan to gradually turn the United States into a third-world nation. The country would become poorer and less free, but Democrats would have an unbeatable majority!
Under Teddy Kennedy’s 1965 immigration act, our immigration policy changed from one that replicated the existing ethnic population to one that strictly favored unskilled immigrants from the third world. Since 1968, 85 percent of legal immigrants have come from what is euphemistically called “developing countries.”
We can’t admit computer scientists from Spain fleeing their failing socialist nation because we have to make room for a recent Senegalese immigrant’s brother-in-law with no skills but great needs.

Obama’s win is not terrible, as many of us imagine.
Not terrible. It is Catastrophic.
The nature, magnitude and impact of an Obama victory has never quite been understood.
Among patriots, one commonly hears “We Can’t Survive Another Four Years of Obama.”
Actually, we might.
Make no mistake: “make it” means like the victim of a hideous car crash, whose relatives are told by physicians “we think she’ll ‘Make It’ “….(but she’ll never be the same.)
Oh, we may “make it” through another Obama sentence.
But we’ll never be the same.
