A survey in China revealed that more than 96 percent of the participants surveyed think that the most obvious reason for inequality in current Chinese society is “caused by power.”
Sina.com reported that People's Forum Magazine conducted the “Survey of Equality” on Sina.com 6,277 people participated in the survey. The survey showed that 72 percent of participants think that the rich-to-poor gap in China is too big. Nearly 50 percent believe that the gap is strategic. The survey also revealed that 68 percent of the participants felt that the income they receive from their work was not commensurate.
The question “what types of societal circumstances increase the awareness of social injustice?” was posed. More than 86 percent of the participants considered the main circumstance to be “corruption of officials,” 72 percent thought that the second circumstance was “the living conditions of the less privileged classes,” and 68 percent believed the condition was “rich peoples’ tendency toward excess.”

During the recent G-20 Summit held in Washington D.C., the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime presented its rescue plan which calls for an unprecedented 4 trillion yuan (US$586 billion) bail out. Chinese president Hu Jintao intended to show it off at the global summit. Although China is still far from being a member of the international rich nations club, Hu is eager to take part in this event. Surprisingly, as soon as the rescue package was publicized, it became the target of criticism from Western mainstream media before the global summit had a chance to take it seriously.

The Chinese authorities regard the peaceful spiritual movement, namely, Falun Gong to be harmful to society. This is like treating white sugar as arsenic. So this point of view itself is wrong. All around the world Falun Gong is allowed to practice, its practiced in more than 80 countries. Only in China, theyre not allowed. Since other countries can accept it... it shows that theres something wrong with the Chinese Communist Partys values.

A Falun Gong practitioner stands outside the shelter that the City of Vancouver says violates a bylaw. The Falun Gong have maintained a 7-year vigil outside the Chinese consulate on Granville St. to raise awareness of the persecution of their counterparts in China. (Helena Zhu)
VANCOUVER—As the hearing over the Falun Gong protest outside the Chinese consulate wrapped up on Friday, Falun Gong's lawyers told the B.C. Supreme Court that there is an “improper purpose” behind the City of Vancouver's attempt to oust the long-running appeal.
Legal counsel Joe Arvay suggested that Mayor Sam Sullivan's efforts to get rid of the protest have more to do with Sullivan's relationship with the Chinese consulate and the regime in China than with a bylaw.
The city wants Falun Gong practitioners to dismantle their 7-year 24/7 protest consisting of signs and a small shelter outside the consulate, saying it violates a city bylaw.

A recent survey in China showed that more than half of Chinese customers now have less trust in New Zealand dairy products. From the perspective of business, Fonterra’s investment in China is in tatters.
The melamine milk powder scandal has seen Fonterra, as Sanlu’s 43 percent shareholder and one of the largest dairy enterprises in the world, write the company down by NZ$139 million.
In fact, Fonterra is only a typical example of the countless failures experienced by western enterprises, which invest billions of dollars in cheap Chinese goods, but turn a blind eye to the corrupt nature of the Chinese communist regime. Unfortunately, these investments were destined to go down the drain from the beginning, because anyone who goes into business with the most totalitarian regime in history surely must not expect anything different.

Role of Chinese Communist Regime ignored
The last of the American presidential debates was held Wednesday night. Domestic issues dominated, in no small part because the debate was supposed to be limited to them, but on occasion foreign affairs entered the discussion, most often in reference to international trade.
All three debates dealt with a host of issues, except one: the Chinese Communist Party. The lack of attention to the regime looking to replace us as the world's leading power was stunning, and one that the American people (and even the candidates themselves) are sure to regret.
There are many reasons why the CCP should be an issue per se in our national discourse. They are building up their military for no other purpose than to challenge our position in East Asia. They have alliances with some of the most tyrannical and anti-American regimes on the planet, including many terrorist-sponsoring entities.

Sometimes the story behind the story is better than the story itself.
Like the story behind the million-plus messages the Chinese version of Skype recorded on an unsecure server and likely shared with Chinese authorities.
While the explosive controversy surrounding the Skype logs has grabbed headlines around the world, the content of those logs has gone relatively unreported.
Barely mentioned in media reports was the fact that a substantial portion of the logs is about a grassroots movement to eliminate China’s communist dictatorship.

For over five thousand years, the Chinese people created a splendid civilization on the land nurtured by the Yellow River and Yangtze River. During this long period of time, dynasties came and went, and the Chinese culture waxed and waned. Grand and moving stories have played out on the historical stage of China.
The year 1840, the year commonly considered by historians as the beginning of China’s contemporary era, marked the start of China’s journey from tradition to modernization. Chinese civilization experienced four major episodes of challenge and response. The first three episodes include the invasion of Beijing by the Anglo-French Allied Force in the early 1860s, the Sino-Japanese War in 1894 (also called “Jiawu War”), and the Russo-Japanese War in China’s northeast in 1906. To these three episodes of challenge, China responded with the Westernization Movement, which was marked by the importation of modern goods and weapons, institutional reforms through the Hundred Days’ Reform in 1898 [1] and the attempt at the end of the late Qing Dynasty to establish constitutional rule, and later, the Xinhai Revolution (or Hsinhai Revolution) [2] in 1911.

Potentially toxic Chinese ingredients not inspected before use in U.S.
By Genevieve Long and Carol Wickenkamp Epoch Times Staff Oct 6, 2008
Food labeled as made in the U.S.A. could contain tainted ingredients from China. Amid recent concerns over the safety of food products from China, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says it has stepped up efforts to increase screening imports. The screening applies only to food products, and not to raw ingredients.
“That [screening] doesn’t cover the ingredients—ingredients are exempt,” says Henri Morris, President and CEO of Edible Software. “A lot of stuff is falling through the cracks.” Morris's company supplies inventory control and management accounting software to wholesale food distributors.

By Wu XueerEpoch Times Staff, The Chinese communist regime has spent 42 billion dollars on the Beijing Olympics to make sure that the 2008 Beijing Olympics are the “best Games ever.” Many people consider the hosting of a successful Olympics a plus for the Chinese communist regime and a way to save the regime from utter collapse. However, professor Showing H. Young from Taiwan holds a completely different view. “The more successful the Beijing Olympics, the closer is the end of the Chinese communist regime,” commented Professor Young.
Young is an associate professor in the Department of Business Management at National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan. He is a leading scholar in Asia who has studied and taught the renowned management guru Dr. Peter M. Senge’s concept of a learning organization and the fifth discipline.
Professor Young gave a brilliant analysis and forecast of China’s present and future from the stand point of systems analysis and this article is a reflection on the conversation with him.

There has been much coverage by Western media over the last two years about the health risks posed by "Made in China" products, including Chinese export of counterfeit medicines. Chinese counterfeit medicines may have already caused hundreds—if not thousands—of deaths outside of China.
Less is known, however, of the harm of contaminated goods to the Chinese people or of the steps being taken to regulate the industries. One man in China, however, provides insight into this issue.
Dubbed by the Chinese media as China’s foremost combatant against counterfeit medicine, Gao Jingde says that he has discovered through his investigations that two-thirds China's drug stores sell counterfeit medicine.
Gao, who graduated from the Anhui Traditional Chinese Medical College, has been working in the field of medicinal science for many years.
He started to investigate the counterfeit medicine issue in 2004 after he took some tablets produced by the Zhejiang Jinhuatailai Drug Company for his liver disease.

More than a decade after the fall of the former Soviet Union and Eastern European communist regimes, the international communist movement has been spurned worldwide. The demise of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is only a matter of time.
Nevertheless, before its complete collapse, the CCP is trying to tie its fate to the Chinese nation, with its 5000 years of civilization. This is a disaster for the Chinese people. The Chinese people must now face the impending questions of how to view the CCP, how to evolve China into a society without the CCP, and how to pass on the Chinese heritage. The Epoch Times is now publishing a special editorial series, “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party.” Before the lid is laid on the coffin of the CCP, we wish to pass a final judgment on it and on the international communist movement, which has been a scourge to humanity for over a century.

NEW YORK—Set against the backdrop of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad address at the United Nations General Assembly, former Miss Canada Nazanin Afshin-Jam stood across the street at a rally earlier this week in an appeal to raise awareness of the 139 minority children scheduled for execution in her native country of Iran.
Two years ago, Nazanin rescued a 17-year-old Iranian girl convicted of murder and set for execution for killing a man who had attempted to rape her.
Nazanin, after hearing the girl’s story through a friend, was compelled to act after learning the girl shared her name. Through her popularity and star power, Nazanin shed light on the young Nazanin’s story, eventually getting a stay of execution and her eventual release.
